Torquay, Victoria - Daniel Aaron is thrilled to announce the highly anticipated release of his self-titled debut album. Recently released on the 22nd of June, 'Daniel Aaron' offers a captivating sonic landscape. Self-coined as ‘Indie-Roots’, this album draws inspiration from the flavours of blues and roots, alternative rock, indie folk and indie pop. With its stunning production and poetic themes, 'Daniel Aaron' is set to leave a lasting impression on listeners.
Centred in earnest lyricism, ‘Daniel Aaron’ delves into themes of love, loss, self reconciliation and the pursuit of authenticity amid the chaos of the mind. The album's songs serve as a reflection of Aaron's personal experiences and profound learnings, inviting listeners to explore their own journey of self-discovery and growth. Significantly, the album is undoubtedly laced with a connection to the Australian landscape and a deep appreciation for indigenous cultural ways of being, resonating the connection between nature and self-betterment.
'Daniel Aaron' is graced with exceptional collaborations that elevate it's notability. The track 'Sweet Lady', showcases the esteemed African Psych-Rock artist and percussionist, Immy Owusu, who lends his talents on congas, bongos, and djembe. Moreover, the opening track, 'Common Ground', marks a significant collaboration with Wathuarong Traditional Owner and lore man, Buzz Edwards. It combines Edwards' distinct acknowledgment of country with Aaron's potent guitar and melodic elements. As the name suggests, ‘Common Ground’ symbolises a coming together, and sets a forceful precedence for the rest of the album.
'Daniel Aaron' features stunning production. The recording process for 'Daniel Aaron' was a labor of love, helmed by acclaimed Melbourne-based producer and music director, Michael Belsar. Over the course of three years, Aaron and Belsar collaborated to create a rich and immersive musical experience. Aaron, a self-taught multi-instrumentalist, masterfully played various instruments throughout the album, including his Yidaki (didgeridoo), with Belsar contributing keys-based elements, and additional contributors adding their expertise to certain tracks, including violin in 'Thalassophile'.
What truly sets 'Daniel Aaron' apart from other debut albums is its meticulous production and mastering, elevating it to a higher sonic level. The album's opening track, 'Common Ground', stands out as a powerful statement, accompanied by the evocative rhythm of the Yidaki (didgeridoo) that permeates throughout the album.
Soon after the release, Daniel Aaron has exciting plans to bring the album to life through live shows and promotional activities. Two launch shows supported by a four-piece band, will showcase the album's full production: July 23 at the Barwon Club Hotel in Geelong and July 27 at the Workers Club in Fitzroy, both supported by Immy Owusu and Jasmin Adria. This will followed by a solo interstate tour later in the year.
